Briefly describe the design highlights or unique features of this project:

JHA was engaged by a renewable energy company to design a significant renovation and addition to their existing Operations & Maintenance (O&M) building. The client had rapidly outgrown their pre-engineered steel building, which was originally used primarily for equipment storage. After supporting the client with construction inspection and environmental services at a nearby site, JHA was trusted to lead the architectural, structural, and MEP design for this transformative project.

What specific challenges did you face during this project, and how did JHA Companies solve them?

The project doubled the building’s overall square footage, accommodating the growing needs of the company’s field and administrative teams. The design expanded the existing structure to include dedicated office and meeting spaces, while also increasing the building's capacity for essential equipment storage. The new program introduced a reception area, multiple offices, a tech room, small parts storage, expanded restrooms with showers, a kitchen, utility room, additional storage rooms, and a conference room. JHA took a hands-on approach to fully understand the client’s operational needs, carefully studying the existing building and workflows to propose strategic retrofits and space adjacencies that would enhance efficiency and usability. The result was a cohesive, functional facility that supports both the technical and administrative sides of the client's operations—delivered with a deep understanding of the building’s original structure and the company’s evolving needs.
