Sierra grew up in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. She was always interested in art and design, so it wasn’t a surprise that she decided to study architecture in college. Sierra graduated from Tyler School of Art & Architecture at Temple University with her Bachelors of Architecture. Her favorite type of project to work on is any building project that has restrictive code issues or requires program organization and concept development. Sierra joined the JHA team in 2012, originally hired as an entry level design technician. Not having any engineering experience or even living locally, she applied to JHA on a whim after her thesis fueled her interest in rural planning and development as a result of the natural gas industry. She began at JHA working primarily on site development projects and transitioned to drafting pipeline plans. As there became more of a demand, she transitioned into building design. She hopes to continue to serve JHA through architecture and land development related projects. She recently completed a Project Management Certification course at Penn State alongside her job to further develop her skills in project leadership and organization. You might not know this, but she also has experience in neon lighting design and she has traveled to 14 countries outside of the US! She is your go-to girl if you need project help with building design, and we are so grateful to have her at JHA! She has a husband Stephen, cute little 2 year old son Emery, a dog, Rooney and two cats, Pita and Chester. They live in Dalton, PA, and love traveling as a family.
Sierra Simko.
An early start and early finish, working through a fun design in CAD while listening to one of my favorite radio shows or podcasts, lunch out with coworkers, and maybe a nerf gun battle. (Ha! I guess I am living the dream some days.)
My back deck! But Mexico is a close second.
People matter most – I think it is easy to forget that in this industry, and I feel fortunate to have found a company that not only takes care of its clients but its employees too.

My son. I don’t know how I got so lucky with him!
