TEAM MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: PHIL RAUB

PHIL RAUB

February 20, 2023 |

Phil grew up near Elk Mountain and graduated from Mountain View High School, which seems to be the hotspot for our Building Design team as Sierra Simko and Casey Holleran both graduated from too – Go Eagles! While at Mountain View, at an early age of 14, Phil had Architecture classes that eventually lead him to Johnson College for Architecture. After graduation, Phil decided not to pursue architecture and worked in the construction field for about ten years. until he realized, one day, that he was ready to design instead of build. While working in construction, Phil joined the Army National Guard and received an honorable discharge. Even though construction was something he had always been around, he knew that designing was more in his wheelhouse. After certification from Penn State University, Phil re-entered the field of building and design and joined Keystone Consulting in Honesdale.

There, as part of a team, he did design work for approximately 16 years where he designed Hampton Inn’s, Holiday Inn Express, Perkins, Medical Offices, and various other commercial projects. In 2018, JHA acquired Keystone, but before the acquisition Phil had spoken with Sierra Simko briefly. Sierra, who wanted to expand the Building Design department, brought him on board in the fall of 2018. Phil has been with us ever since, starting as a team support member and he recently grew into his role of Project Leader. The Building Design team has grown in the past 12 months and continues to grow. Phil enjoys mentoring the team and when it comes to designing, he enjoys delivering a product to the client that excites everyone. For Phil, it’s an enjoyable challenge to be part of a winning team.

Outside of work Phil has a son, Lincoln, who will be 16 in May. Phil’s hobbies include photography, mountain biking, cooking (He is currently making sauerkraut in his office at the Moosic location) and taking pictures of food. He is currently learning how to distill his own spirits as his next adventure. He also enjoys fixing and building things and relaxing at Wrighter Lake, boating, fishing and just being on the water.
