TEAM MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: MARK ROSS, PE

MARK ROSS, PE

October 28, 2022 | Mark Ross grew up in Columbia Crossroads, Pennsylvania and graduated Troy High School in 2000. Upon graduation, Mark attended Cedarville University, where he majored in Mechanical Engineering and received a minor in Bible. Along with being a great Christian university, he chose Cedarville University for their great Engineering program. He graduated in 2004 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and received his Engineer in Training, (EIT) in 2005. A few years late, he became a Professional Engineer (PE) in 2012. Mark’s first job out of college was at Echo Bridge Incorporated as a Design Engineer. He worked there for 15 years before going to Hunt Engineers, Architects, and Surveyors in Horseheads, NY. Mark worked there for two years before coming to JHA. As a Structural Project Engineer, Mark has now been at JHA for nearly 3 years. Joe’s Christians values were a huge part about what drew Mark to JHA. He also knew the company was young and that there would be a lot of room for growth. His favorite Core Value is Communication is Key because to have a good team you must communicate well internally, in order to get the job done. For clients, if the project is not going as well as one would have hoped, with no one at fault, communication makes it better so the client knows what’s going on and not kept in the dark. Poor communication can make bad situations worse. Mark said the team is what keeps him coming to work every day because working alone would be difficult.

A huge congratulations to Mark, who was recently married on September 3rd! His wife, Mindy, and he have a shared love for covered bridges. They saw 8 covered bridges on one of their dates and they continue to find more together as their relationship progresses. They dance rumba, swing, and cha-cha together as Mindy is a ballroom dance instructor. He is currently one of our remote workers, as he just moved to Hummelstown, PA. Mark is a certified bridge Inspector and forklift operator. Outside of work, he likes to hunt, water ski, hike, white water raft, woodwork, and play softball.
