JHA was retained by the Montrose Restoration Committee in collaboration with the Susquehanna County Housing and Redevelopment Authority and the Borough of Montrose to prepare all of the surveying and engineering design plans for the South Main Street Streetscape Project.
Improvements included new concrete sidewalks for safer pedestrian travel, new curbing, new street lighting and new trees enhancing the atmosphere of downtown Montrose. JHA was tasked with navigating the PennDOT permitting approval and bidding process, as well as coordinating with PA American Water on their concurrent project.
The project was funded and administered by PennDOT, the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) Grant funding provides funding for programs and projects defined as transportation alternatives. These alternative projects include transportation enhancements, recreational trails, safe routes to school, and several other discretionary programs, wrapping them into a single funding source.
This is the second project of this type completed in Montrose. The first was the Public Avenue streetscape project completed in 2011.
