Briefly describe the design highlights or unique features of this project:
JHA Companies was engaged to provide full building design and engineering services for a proposed 40,000-square-foot school facility for High Point Academy, a Christian education program operated by High Point Baptist Church. The project was envisioned as a permanent, purpose-built space to replace the church’s existing shared facilities, following a significant donation intended to support the program’s expansion.
What specific challenges did you face during this project, and how did JHA Companies solve them?
JHA’s scope included comprehensive mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering, along with collaborative planning and coordination with prefabricated building vendors and local contractors. Working under tight budget and schedule constraints, the design team explored efficient, cost-effective construction methods to allow completion before the upcoming academic year.
The proposed design featured a pre-engineered metal building that included a full gymnasium, locker rooms, administrative offices, a library, and ten classrooms. It also incorporated a second level, planned for future classrooms and a cafeteria, providing flexibility for long-term growth.
Though the project was never constructed, it stands as an example of JHA’s ability to deliver thoughtful, future-ready designs under tight timelines. The collaborative, multidisciplinary approach ensured that the design would have met the client’s immediate educational needs while remaining adaptable for future development.
