Briefly describe the design highlights or unique features of this project:

JHA was contracted to provide feasibility of a high-end RV resort proposed in West Virginia. Initial scope included concept design to develop the aesthetic of the resort as well as the feasibility of the parcel of land. Considerations included amenities, program adjacencies, visual design direction, topographical restrictions, stream buffers, and number of lots to determine investment value. The first phase of construction included earth work for RV sites, driveway and vehicle circulation, utility infrastructure, and a guest services building at the entrance to the resort. The architectural team worked alongside the client to create a building that informed of the aesthetic feel for the subsequent development phases, a space where the owner’s vision, and comprised the heart of the business – guest experience. JHA provided schematic design through construction documents for the initial phase.

What specific challenges did you face during this project, and how did JHA Companies solve them?

The guest services building set the stage for the following phases. It was imperative to think through what the final development would look like in order to develop the design of the initial building. This required master planning and overall site design as well as some programming and concept design for the future buildings. JHA worked with the Client to truly understand his vision and goals in order to back into the ultimate design of the first phase.
