Abby McCrea is an Environmental Technician at JHA Companies. Originally from Oklahoma, Abby began looking for work after graduating in May of 2020, but found no companies near her were hiring (due to the pandemic). She heard of JHA Companies and had visited the website, but initially thought we only did land survey. After struggling to find something in her field for almost a year, she decided to reach out to JHA because of its flexibility and benefits. Soon after, she was offered an Environmental Technician role in JHA’s Montrose, PA location. Abby packed her things and relocated all the way from Oklahoma! With a background working in GIS, AutoCAD, and a Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Abby is a great fit on the JHA team. Currently, Abby works mostly on bluestone quarry projects, developing AutoCAD mapping, preparing permits, visiting quarry to shoot permit boundaries, and is getting more into dealing with clients. Abby also does infiltration testing for natural gas clients, and some work as a newly certified Sewage Enforcement Officer, doing mostly perc tests. Abby enjoys the variety of work that comes with each day and is learning how to schedule her time so that she’s got a wide variety in each week.
Outside of work, Abby enjoys gardening, cooking, and yard work, as well as hiking, kayaking, and swimming. She’s also expanding her knowledge of building and mechanics by building shelves and working on a motorcycle with her boyfriend. Bonus hobby: Abby’s secret talent is building balloon arches!
