JHA Companies teamed with Eclectic Architecture, LLC for the addition of a new amphitheater and ADA Accessible Trail near the existing Visitor’s Center at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, located in Albany Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania.
JHA prepared Site Plans showing the proposed structures, grading, access and a draft of the proposed stormwater management. The plan was used in discussions regarding the layout and design of the facilities. The plans were then reviewed and approved at the Township and County levels. JHA also prepared an Erosion & Sediment Control Plan which was implemented during construction to reduce the impact of construction on site.
Designing an ADA Accessible Trail in rocky, forested conditions presented a unique challenge on this site. The trail route was determined onsite to limit impact to the natural terrain and vegetation. The proposed route was then located in the field with GPS equipment and transferred to the Site Development Plan. ADA access to the Amphitheater has been provided at multiple levels to allow visitors a choice of accessible seating.
