Briefly describe the design highlights or unique features of this project:
Bridgewater Church engaged JHA Companies to develop architectural concept designs for a new office headquarters that would support its growing operations and evolving program needs. The church’s existing headquarters—a traditional cathedral-style structure—was originally considered for retrofit. However, after assessing code requirements, spatial functionality, and the structural limitations of the building, JHA worked closely with Bridgewater leadership to explore the feasibility of new construction.
To inform the decision-making process, JHA collaborated with a construction partner familiar with the church’s past projects to evaluate the potential cost of necessary structural upgrades. This practical and cost-conscious evaluation led to the conclusion that a new building would not only be more economical, but also better aligned with Bridgewater’s functional and aesthetic goals.
What specific challenges did you face during this project, and how did JHA Companies solve them?
The proposed design included dedicated spaces for pastor and accounting offices, multiple meeting rooms, and a children’s ministry area. A key priority for the church was creating a welcoming, centralized entry space to serve as a communal gathering point, as well as a modern exterior that would convey both warmth and lasting presence. JHA partnered directly with the lead pastor to ensure the layout reflected the church’s daily operations and long-term vision, while also developing presentation materials to help engage and gain support from the broader congregation.
This project reflects JHA’s holistic approach to faith-based design—balancing budget, function, and form to deliver solutions that support both mission and community.
